Presentation

  • “A man talks to animals, that is to beings without responses. He talks to 300 mute eyes. He gives The Speech to Animals, a navigation into the interior, that is, first in his language and his words. A man talks to animals and in this way talks to them about things we do not talk about: about what we experience, for examples, when we are carried to our extremes, torn apart, in the greatest darkness and far from a light, without words and close to a conclusion.”
    Valère Novarina

Anxiety is the second part of the stage adaptation of The Speech to Animals. I consider it the very intimate explosion of a child's words, the child that we imagine, the one that perhaps the author is, the one that I am. This child who discovers a gaping opening, a hole, an absence in himself and who suffers from it a great deal. An inability to discipline his mouth and his body and his desires. So it is a question of calling out, launching, protesting and shouting: God, or the stones, or the animals, or those who are listening.”
    Stanislas Roquette
