Presentation

  • “'It's not that bad,' Koffi said. What he meant was, 'It's not the end of the world.' I heard: 'Escaping gravity.' So I decided to stage sounds rather than write music. For this original experience, hanging up sounds in space the way you hang up paper lanterns, to shine a light on silence, to taste the colour of the sounds that are already there, the flavor of the words that are coming.” Michel Risse

    Koffi Kwahulé
Trained at the National Arts Institute in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, then at the École nationale supérieure des arts et des techniques du théâtre in Paris, Koffi Kwahulé holds a doctorate in theatrical studies. The author of about thirty plays (including Jazz and La Mélancolie des barbares [The Melancholy of the Barbarians]), he is the artist associated with the Centre dramatique national in Montluçon, directed by Carole Thibaut.

    Michel Risse
A graduate of the Strasbourg conservatory with a most eclectic professional background, Michel Risse is a multi-instrumentalist, an electro-acoustic engineer, and a composer. The director of the Décor Sonore company, he finds inspiration in the sounds, resonances, and harmonies of natural or industrial elements that inhabit our urban landscapes to offer a unique way of listening to the world.
