The repercussion of an encounter aren't always visible right away; sometimes, it can't be measured until much later. This is what Gwendoline Robin and Gaëlle Bourges want to attempt: to measure the repercussion of Petrarch seeing Laura for the first time in Avignon on 6 April 1327 from their own vantage point, by following the traces left behind by that encounter. Stories, language, and smoke will serve as landmarks on the path to 1327. Prepare for the random and the unlikely, for uncertain events sure to appear when you least expect them.
Gaëlle Bourges
Gaëlle Bourges's work is proof of her pronounced inclination for references to art history and of her critical relationship with the history of representations: she created, among other shows, the triptych Vider Vénus (Je baise les yeux / La Belle Indifférence / Le Verrou) [Emptying Venus (I kiss the eyes / The Beautiful Indifference / The Lock)], Un beau raté [A Beautiful Failure], 59, À mon seul désir (which played at the Festival d'Avignon in 2015), Lascaux, and Conjurer la peur [To ward off fear]. She also holds a degree in somatic education through movement delivered by the Body-Mind Centering school of the university Paris 8-Saint-Denis. Gaëlle Bourges is associated to the CCN de Tours and to Danse à tous les étages - Scène de territoire danse en Bretagne, and artist-in-residence in L'échangeur - CDCN Hauts-de-France. She will be part of the artistic collective of the Comédie de Valence starting with the 2017-2018 season.
Gwendoline Robin
Gwendoline Robin has built a body of work halfway between installation and performance, which puts her own body at stake and in danger. Bringing movement back to its very essence—a physical relationship to space—she summons unstable materials and telluric, atmospheric, and cosmic energies, which led her to integrate scientific research to the creation of A.G.U.A., on which she is working for the Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2018. Gwendoline Robin's productions are followed by Entropie production and she's accompanied by Grand Studio.
