As a young child in Algiers, Marie-Pierre only wanted to wear dresses and refused to answer to the name she'd been given at birth: Jean-Pierre. Her life changed at age 17 when she discovered the Carrousel de Paris, a transvestite cabaret show on tour. Over the next few years, she became “Bambi,” a mythical figure in the Parisian cabarets of the 1950s and 60s. By recording the testimony of one of France's first transsexuals, Sébastien Lifshitz continues the work he started with Les Invisibles and explores the fate of an extraordinary personality.
